Donor visits to the Jockey Club “age at home” Gerontech Education and Rental Service Center
As the population of Hong Kong gradually aged throughout the years, "ageing at home" has become a hot topic among communities. Partially operated by the Hong Kong Red Cross, the Jockey Club “age at home” Gerontech Education and Rental Service Center aims to build up the capability and confidence of “ageing in place” among elderlies and their close ones via Gerontech. The center also offers education activities and provides one-stop assessment and consultation services to people in need.
In June this year, the Hong Kong Red Cross hosted six visits to the Jockey Club “age at home” Gerontech Education and Rental Service Center, during which donors learnt about various Gerontech facilities under the guidance of our Occupational Therapists and Care Equipment Counsellors and explored the secrets of “ageing at home”.
Feedback from donors:
“The interactive workshop on “ageing at home” is very useful, since I am currently looking after two seniors residing at home, one of them requires the need of a wheelchair. Thanks a lot!” ~ Ms. Kwok, existing donor
“I have become a member of the “Friends of Red Cross” for more than a decade. Although I currently do not require the help from Gerontech equipment, I learn a lot from the session and hope to share my knowledge to those who need it.” ~ Ms. Wong, existing donor
