【Blood Donation Experience Tour】

Most Hong Kong people are familiar with blood donation and may even have personal experience with it. The Hong Kong Red Cross Blood Transfusion Service Centre is the only organization in Hong Kong that supplies blood. But do you know how one unit of blood can save three lives? When did Hong Kong start voluntary blood donation? How is blood plasma stored in the blood bank? What are the standards for blood inventory? How is blood provided to patients in need?

This year, we are organizing a blood donation center tour event, during which the Hong Kong Red Cross Blood Transfusion Service will guide you through a visit to explore the Sze Pang Nien Memorial Headquarters Donor Centre. Through this visit, you will gain insights into the operations of the blood inventory, understand the work of the transfusion center, and have the chance to participate in an on-site blood donation. It aims to deepen your understanding of the humanitarian value and significance of blood donation.

If you are interested in learning more about blood collection, storage, and utilization, we sincerely invite you to participate in this event.

The event includes:

1. Understanding the history of blood donation
2. Touring the blood laboratory
3. Learning about the blood processing procedures behind blood donation
4. Experiencing blood donation

Event Details :

Date: 16th July 2024 (Tuesday)

Time: 2:00pm – 5:00pm

Location: Sze Pang Nien Memorial Headquarters Donor Centre (15 King's Park Road, Kowloon)

Meeting Time and Location:

• 1:30pm at the Ground Floor Lobby of Hong Kong Red Cross Headquarters (Address: Hong Kong Red Cross Headquarters, 19 Hoi Ting Road, West Kowloon, Hong Kong)
• 2:00pm at Dr. Sze Pang-Chun Memorial Headquarters Blood Donation Station (for self-arranged transportation)

Quota: 25 participants

Enrollment Deadline: 24th June 2024 (Monday)

Note: Transportation will be arranged for participants from Hong Kong Red Cross Headquarters to the event venue via a shuttle bus. Participants may also choose to arrange their own transportation.
